I wonder still at how it began;
This need to write those things inside and all the while expose
The simple ache to have more than what I’d found
But for words written on a page and some ideal
That loving another and being loved in return mattered
And of how the river always flows through the days
Whether I see the Blue or not, she owns me still
………………………………………………………………………………………
Above the long slow hole at Medford’s farm there was a slide
Years ago, back in late winter when the rain fell for days
And as she rose, she carried away the underpinning
To let rotten stone no longer defy the gravity of it all
So that now the river is crowded into narrowed channel
With boulders choking to a constricted throat
And on the hot days of July
One could walk within the shade and cast along margins
Of the roils for smallmouth and if nothing else
Catch a moment’s peace or a view inside
Unsullied by the quotation marks that bound the words
To another time

In the end it is only flesh and bones
Currents and stone….
Driven by internal need that chokes
Flow into a rush of white that might easily sweep away
Those who have vowed or promised
Then found for love or life they could not leave
Such the hurt or loss
To all that had not asked for choice or chance.
And still she moves to wear away through days
A channel for herself that will hold
A balance
To the still water pulled by moon
……………………………………………………………………………
What importance to the mend of thought has brought
The shallow draft of words to this my parody of heart?

Still I wonder at how it all began
And where
                       It all will end

sometimes I scuba dive in lakes and rivers just to look at the underside of the slow movement..to see what it covers or what stirs it to it's action.  I see you do it without a tank..kewl stuff

Thanks Dark..I grew up around rivers and streams, spent a lot of hours close to them and in them. I guess even a dumb old country boy absorbs some of what is there after while.

appreciate your dropping in, and the kind words.

Thanks for dropping in on this Eldest... seems it has been hot everywhere this summer. I hope it cools off where you are soon and you get some relief.

Somehow I felt as though I was reading
something very private...

Excellent Captain.

(chuckling)... well ma'am... it was intended to read that way...but aren't our journals supposed to be private and intimate..the part of us we don't carry around on a sign for the world to see?

again... I thank you sincerely for the kind words and for the eyes... your time..

I think a part of the question has always been, will the words end? Many times I have thought they would and were gone, only to find them again, slightly older, slightly altered, a bit more difficult to allow....

many thanks for the eyes.....
