ME. In the Shadow of the Mt.

We were all perfect once
and we didn't even know it
This comes to mind when I look back
when I was young and fit

The complaints of my youth
seem trivial now
I would welcome them back
if I only knew how

To be young again, full of life
That youthfull glow
But time has sped by
Where did it all go

My mind is still young
but my shell grows old
My memory's still sharp
but my body won't do as it's told

When I look back again
In the next few years
What will I see then
Will I still have the same fears

I was perfect once again
and I didn't even know it!

Who says you aren't perfect now?

Beautifully captured.

Thanks Lost-Poet. We are all perfect in our own imperfect way.

That's it Karen, we never know, or really appreciate something, until its gone do we?

Take me for instance, I'm a nobody.

But wait, nobody's perfect right?

See, you were right, and this was, perfect.
Nice to meet you, this was great!

My body may not be what it once was but I have so much more wisdom and understanding now. Maybe there are different kinds of perfection.

Really insightful. I think everyone looks back on past parts of their lives longingly, no matter what age they are. It's all part of the perfect imperfection that humans are.

Thanks Richy, Marchmadness, and The Sky is Imagination. When I was a little girl and got into trouble I would scream "I'm not perfect!"

it's interesting that our perspectives are always changing, and yet we often hold on to ideals of ourselves that really weren't as ideal as we are now...or may be tomorrow.

enjoyed the read

Perfection, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.  As the country songs says "I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was"

thanks Kattahdin for the pertinent and beautiful words, childhood has its beauty and truthes that alas we forget, we should see the world through child eyes the more we can...Enjoyed my read.
