Clothe me in the mirth of tabrets and tin dreams, leave me bruises marked by lilacs, and nothing else, drink deep of the body’s nectar and break apart the words that bind us, mandolins and amber, names for the daughters we will never have, bring forth moths to gnaw the edges of an hour of stalled pendulums, humming in their dark spectrums, all silken fire and angry grace, as I pull around me this shawl of rain, for like Gretel, I have learned where the sugar lies in the dark, dark center of myth, night closes around me like a fist and I am nothing but a broken spell, a fever, a fever, red falling prey to whiskey’s sour hymn, flush as the lining of a heart, and the azaleas, ceaseless, split apart my palm.

Well, thanks for this. Good stuff again, as if you didn't know. I just did look at my palm and, yes, I can see an azalea bush there---albeit a bit leggy---and I haven't even been drinking alcoholic beverages today... yet. |
