The Pearly Gates

Two fellows arrived at the great Pearly Gates
And hoped to climb up those grand golden stairs,
But St Peter quickly arrived on the scene,
Saying he was suspicious of folks arriving in pairs.

‘Before you can enter this hallowed domain,
Produce something relevant to Christmas’, he said,
The first chap produced a new cigarette lighter
And flicking it on, it showed the stairway ahead.

‘What is that supposed to signify’, said St Peter,
‘It represents a candle,’ the first fellow replies
St Peter thinks this is a quite ingenious response
And its relevance to Xmas he’s quick to surmise.

Pressing a button, the great gates open wide
And the first fellow whips through like a rocket,
The second chap quickly thinks what he can produce
And pulls lady’s knickers from out of his pocket.

What is that supposed to represent booms St Peter,
As he surveyed the other fellow’s apparel,
Wondering what they had to do with Christmas spirit,
But the chap quickly replies that they’re Carols.
