Down the clear steams, the lowly river runs, over top of me laying, Floating above, some leaf, fallen from an elm tree, bright orange and red, Twigs of branches drift, ones and twos, clustered, from torn trees or bushes. here I am, on the bottom, cozy, rounded, snug, worn, torn, polished, Hidden under, blended in, once a rock, strong, full of life, no one, could move me, still, now I am just as the rest, small, unseen, under water, Maybe one day, I will make it, out to the ocean, or in someones hand, maybe a young boys treasure, Maybe one day, I will be more, more than just a pebble on, his beach, or in his river of love flowing to his heart. |
