Eescravo dos Sinos The name stayed upon my palate tasting salty As I remembered the sweat and taste of it And her upon my tongue The torn half chart in my hand I laid it upon clean white sheet and began To extend the lines of map not there From the half that was In parts I knew….there would have to be monsters As in days before when the lands Now not mapped were shown There is an art to cartography they say A science too, but the act of adding hues And shades to the margins of land or sea One paints with a touch of blush Or a shade of blue Some places shallower than others Just like incarnations tend to be “My good fellow” he said “I see you are hard at trying to dream” and laughed not unkindly but in a bemused sort of way I did not look up but continued on Thinking of the hues I might paint the memories of her And how I might map the contours With translations of eye and hand Coordinating the sketch that I would draw With fingertips on skin “The sound of silver bells” he whispered as I closed my eyes “I always preferred the sound of coins” he continued “yet, I know where you are” I turned and he reached inside his coat Handing me a sinew knotted with A tiny silver bell “to remember her” he said “I knew you both back then And know the parting of your ways Was to both The very end” I trembled as I took it in my hand And felt her close to me A tear I cried unconsciously found path Down my cheek “let me” he said as he wiped it off with a deep cold finger “keep looking my good man” he said and left as a shadow leaves in the sun a slow fade of once was there and then when gone you still see the outline of where it was |

Cpat..does hitting "print screen" while in yahoo maps count as cartographing? (grin) I go places blindly quite often and then look up maps after I return to see how my journey looked...or other ways to get there. Enjoyed it! |

This is far better than Googling Earth... You haven't lost your touch in knowing how to bring salt to a woman's eye... and a heavy sigh to follow. Did I mention, welcome home? Yeah, I know I did...and you know I did... but Thank God you did. |
