How Far—How High Once a month at our writers group meet, some one suggests a topic, Some can really be quite strange frowned on by folks myopic, Some are simple some are bold, while others stretch the imagination. But if you are happy with what you wrote you have a great feeling of elation I went down the street the other day & finished up in the pub for a drink, I met a chap I used to know and he said something that made me think, He got talking about the daily news, mostly bad news I’m afraid, He said did you hear about that Hostess that up on high was getting laid.. It was in the papers every day and each night on television, She really was a tasty chick but she evidently needed supervision, I was really rather gob smacked and said how far up did she have to go, He said she joined ‘The Mile High Club’ & that’s how high she had to go. Now that was several months ago and I see she still is in the news, She was arrested down at St-Kilda doing things that Cops could not excuse, She quickly told those blimey cops just what she thought of them, Which certainly didn’t help her chance by using that stratagem. But there again you often meet some folks who never seem to learn, They put their foot into their mouth and common sense they seem to spurn, She is evidently one of those for finding strife where ere that she might be, Pity help the man she marries, he’ll have to have a very patient pedigree. So once again the time has come for someone to suggest a theme I hope it’s one that comes readily to mind and not some cunning scheme, I really think it does us good when we have something difficult to write And when we finally get it done it gives us all a feeling of delight. Very entertaining as always, and sympathetic, too. This forum has some very skilled wordsmiths and you are one of them, sir. As for the "patient pedigree", that is sometimes a sorely acquired taste, as so many know... If someone must suggest another theme, might I borrow from The Moody Blues and offer "the stars, and the veins in the leaf, and the light, and the balance." ? ![]() |

Amaryllis, Bobby, Lamar and Easy, Thanks folks for your kind comments and Easy, next time it is my turn I will suggest the stars as the topic. Have a great day and may the sun always shine upon you. Take care. Lindsay |

A celebrity (at the time) once counseled me to "watch [my] cynicism." I shall take your words as a reminder. Best of luck, especially on the writing. |

You certianly lived up to the challenge laid before you as this was an interesting read. I guess one point that can be taken from this is that we can make our own inspiration and write about topics even when the muse may not visit us. |

You are amazing. I can reel off (sometimes in rhyme) some crazy simple crap, I so admire folks like you and Balladeer that can make a story with so much class and polish. Great work Lindsay |
