My piano awaits its exercise, a thing it rarely does, as all is well in the land of mood, Until it takes a fall. Then, out the fingers with pencil come to change the score and tune, Rewriting accidentals In the darkened daylit room. The score has been completed at least a dozen times Until another seeding Of something I can’t define. One step backward and two ahead I go Now more confused with the sounds I’ve written, The rests and pauses my fingers forget to show. They say it's finished, but too much perfection has been sought Unearthing the base that had succeeded and the pleasure from which it was wraught. ~misce~ [This message has been edited by miscellanea (05-31-2010 06:15 PM).] |

Dear Miscè, a piano that stands unused is really such a sad thing, I know, for mine has the same reasons to complain! I love your reflections, they are wise and show your awareness. Sometimes the search of perfection delays the birth and sharing of an inspired creative work that conveys the beauty of emotions which are already perfect. Very beautifully rendered. You have demonstrated to me how difficult and joyous it is to write a score on a piano which is something that I have never experienced. I do have a similiar feeling when writing poetry. |

It is somewhat of a blessing to even have a piano, whether much used or not. Nicely composed poem... and I have found that ONE light-to-moderate rewrite is usually enough. |
