Grits life can be a country song truly the pickins’ of a twang smooth warm honey flowing over the edges of butter baked dough rain comes echoing over rusty tin roof and in it I hear the music of patience a little backwards on the side of strong at seventeen, I thought I knew it all forward fast time has a way of going on with dreams I hang on to without reason back doors still slam and road dust rolls of summer nights in honeysuckle air yet, I strongly have a voice singing melody God bless the fact I still have southern grits "I'm so hard to handle |

and in it I hear the music of patience a little backwards on the side of strong ...i marvelled at the precise brilliance of how this describes the South. |

God bless in deed. "rain comes echoing over rusty tin roof and in it I hear the music of patience a little backwards on the side of strong at seventeen, I thought I knew it all forward fast time has a way of going on with dreams I hang on to without reason" Loving your writing lately Helen, but then, I always do. Rather fond of grits myself Ma'am... and honeysuckle... and what I remember of living in a place where the front porch on warm evening was a normal place to be... enjoyed the poem.... and the thoughts it brought. |
