I was in first grade in 1951. There was a war going on. Once in a while I would listen to the next door neighbor read her husband's letters to his daughters before she took us all to school. He was writing from Korea. Poignant letters... How he missed his home and family and of the hardships of war. Sometimes there was a touch of humor in the letters. Clearly an effort to spare his family the harshest of realities. We moved away before the war was over and I have often wondered if he ever came home or if his daughters remember those letters as well as I do. Ida Werrett |

It is the things that touch our hearts that we have a tendency to remember..ww |

I was only 6 years old and we lived in that house for about a year, yann. I don't even remember their names, just the letters. Ida |

So many unfinished chapters in our lives, the people who passed through come to mind in such profound ways. You make me wonder about so many people and places and times of my life. Thanks for always sharing your wonderful thoughts, they are a comfort to me. |

I'm sure his words were written to any who would take the time to read and listen. No matter the man's fate, you do his memory justice with this piece. |

A very subtle and poignant portrayal of a war situation. You have really said it all in a very poetic way. An inspiring read. |

Ida, most of the letters recieved, came as small copied letters as all were opened and photgraphed or something. When my grandson was in the Navy they were sending home e-mails! I was amazed at the changes. My grandson was on the Interprise. |
