I was between the age of five and seven, still but a sprout my older siblings would tell me. The air was humid, as black clouds circled the city. In the distance we see lightning bolts slice through clouds, as we tired to count each attack. In a instance the wind picks up speed, our mother brings us in. While our first eldest sister brings blankets, the second eldest sister leads us to the basement. I didn't know what was going on, yet my third eldest sister and brother knew. I wanted to ask but was interrupted by a huge funnel shaped cloud visiting our neighborhood. My brother called it a Twister, the first time I ever seen one. I never knew a cloud could actually touch or even suck up anything like a vaccum. It caused alot of damage, no deaths. But did left me amazed and frightened in my mind. |

I want to see one before I die but if I don't that's fine too. Thought I would get to see one a few times but didn't happen. Lucky you to have this experience! |

Thanks for the anecdote. Tornadoes are scary to adults, so I can only imagine what a 7-year-old would be experiencing, as you did. Such are a class of phenomena better witnessed from a safe distance. |
