A Vacation long Remembered |

It was the summer of '65 I remember it like it was yesterday. The End-All-Vacations trip of America that we experienced as a family of 4 (out of 5). I was only 15 at the time, young and gangly, and awkward youth dressed in fashionable summerwear at the time but now as I return and look athe photos they look so dippy, so outdoorsy, but nerdish. Among the other sights of the trip was a visit of the Grand Canyon-- And as an unsettled youth, as I sat by the rim I remember passive thoughts of suicide. It all seems strange to me now for I am long passed such immaturity and self-loathing but why should my thoughts revert to such things Amidst such scenes of beauty and grandeur? Maybe for the first time in my life I was confronted with a view of such magnitude that I seemed so small and insignificant or perhaps unworthy to be in such majestic beauty. I now can reflect on such wonderful sights of this natural world and instead of feeling intimidated I can feel truly happy and proud that I am privileged just as me, to be a part of it all! I thank the LORD everyday |

A great poem Deleeme especcially the last stanza. I think most young people go through that stage where they think about suicide but most get through it, thank God Well done. Lindsay |

Maturity brings a change of perspective. I think we've all stood on that same ledge and had those thoughts. Well done. Peace. "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |
