Instinct



Time stood still,

As if all clocks had stopped,
And the summer breezes that carried away their thoughts,
Blew gently through their cares and whisked them off to yesterday,

They walked;
Leaving footprints in silken sand,
Turning every now and then,
To watch the lapping waves wash them off to nowhere,

Side by side,
Carefree nothings,
Not spoken, but felt, inside,
Felt in the heart, the soul,
Warmth, deep pleasing comfort,

And flutters,

Like a swarm of butterflies, headed south for the winter,
The massive, uncountable flutters,
In the rhythm that hears their desires,
Fixated on the same thing,
What pulls them? What drives them?

Instinct,
That built in knowledge,
That tells them: when they have achieved their goal,
Something about it; is right,

It’s just right; it’s what they do,
And they know,

And they knew,

Those feelings; in each others arms,

Time stood still.
