I suffer the slings and arrows of oppression Coming from peers, this mortal persecution My vision clouded with hatred demanding In this world of little understanding Not enough bloodshed yet for them They pick apart the dried bones again Bite my lip and close my eyes Through the nighttime piercing cries What is life but a farewell tour? Always leave them wanting more And succumb to the growing vengeful voice Whose presence is chosen not by choice There is a place of sweetest peace Where I go until all cries cease It is the most difficult of my journeys To cross the barrier of my sanity Spiraling down into the storm of chaos Much like the colors in a painting by Degas Hold my ears against the chorus of violence And give in to the utter silenceā¦ |

I suffer the slings and arrows of oppression Coming from peers, this mortal persecution A self reflection - of the self. Nothing more than a release of self-conscious lingering off your tongue. I like reading good poetry - this poem is a 4 out 10 poem. |

This is poem is powerful, extremely well written...there's so many lines that stick out in their poignancy.....I disagree with Trapped-Nothing, this poem is not a 4 out of 10 - what nerve for he/she to say that! He/she obviously does not know good poetry and I notice he/she is going around PIP and writing almost offensive comments to everyone's poetry...I think his account may be fake??? This poem is a 10 out of 10 and I mean that sincerely!! |

Chalmette Guy - There is a haunting beauty in this write of Silence. When we say that someone else has our "goat", it's usually because we unfortunately let them know where it's tied up, thus exposing our vulnerability. I enjoyed the philosophic clarity of your poetic hand here. Namyh |
