My poems tend toward light-hearted fun, A Thalia with Erato alliance; However, Erato, the fickle one, Sometimes reveals her defiance. She abandons Thalia for her sister Muses, Epic Calliope, with her long-winded tales, And tragic Melpomene, who reflects the abuses, Of times when the wind leaves our sails. The poems then share in sombre rhyme, Experiences, oft gained through pain. In the hopes that others will stop in time, And use the wisdom that I have gained. Upon yielding to Erato my sacrifice, Thalia leaves Persephone, Hade's bride To rejoin Erato, again in sunlight, To renew my much lighter side. Do not challenge the Muses in their ways, Pay them homage and somber respect. They can bind then blind, and make one pay, Through their tempermental neglect. Perhaps (as I'm sure you have experienced with your own Muses) a sombre mood encourages that alliance. I take heart in those times, offer the sacrifice they demand, and await Thalia's inevitable return. |

Hear! Hear! No finer piece of wisdom or writing shall I read this day. For surely the fickle finger of the muses have rested gently upon thy brow. Clearly you are their chosen vessel on this occasion. Enjoy it for its time as I'm sure we shall all benefit. I bow to you and yours. "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |

How timely....especially today, when my muse returned...like a boomerang. If you should chance to read Owning Me you'll see that I'm in your very backyard. Sort of. ![]() ![]() |
