Fancy, fancy, what is this? An object with two arms and legs that bows and scrapes, lies down straight, and dishes up good nourishment. It has a face but I can’t say if laughter, grief, or weariness is etched within the lines that nature has supplied. And thereupon the countenance reside the eyes that help to find my missing keys, my disease, and the items of my daily use. Two ears to hear the babies cry, the doorbell ring, my phone tinkle, the speech of all my household pets, and the run of rats in the ceilings. There are hands, big/small or in-between that magically change dirty, used, into the clean pristine and how they hold the broom and pan is best to not be seen. I might buy it, yes, indeed, if it follows where I lead and laughs at jokes I tell again and again, again, again, And once it’s owned it must obey my instructions couched in seeming joint decision making because it must know to disagree begets my walk to silence. I think that thing’s a woman and if it breaks it’s quite alright; there always is another! Helen / 11 April 2010 |

Sounds like something I wouldn't mind passing on to "another", Helen. Ida |

I loved this, but I must disagree with you on your ending...for looking from the 'other side' I find that if it breaks you will never find another, for no one will ever be perfect enough again (at least, in my life I have found it so) ...once again, though, I thoroughly enjoyed this one |

Hi, Steaven. Memories can be deceptive because we seem primed to only remember the good things. Perfect? No, no one is perfect. It's just that we don't see the imperfections until we ... concentrate the mind in the stillness of the night. ![]() Helen |

An unfortunate view that is all to often taken as the norm. Thankfully there are those of us who wear corrective lenses. A powerful write here. I bow to you and yours. Peace. "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |
