Bones does what he has to do to survive. There is nothing Bones won’t do to get a buck. Bones lost his pride at an early age. Pride would only stand in the way of a good meal, clothes on his back, or a place to stay. Bones has decided that pride is for folks that can afford it. Bobby |

I very much like this peice. It is sad and maybe though pride stands in the way can it be found with the ability to survive? just an idea Bailey |

Thanks Bailey, and welcome to the forum. Bones is really too busy just staying alive to cogitate about such things as pride, and that's a good thing. Lets never forget, "pride" is one of the seven deadly sins--" wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony." Bobby |

Since "pride cometh before the fall" Bones is probably just as well off without it. Ida |

I have to agree with the sentiment of this one. However, I've always had an issue with the notion that pride is a bad thing. Really... don't we tell ourselves, and our kids, that they sould have pride in a job well done, pride in one's country, and pride, honor and integrity in self. Sure, one should never take it to the extreme, but I believe that a certain amount of pride is a healthy thing to have. If it be a sin, oh well... I guess I'm just one of those who sees God sitting back after six long days and saying to himself, "Damn, but I done good!" ![]() "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." Thanks Andrew, Of course Bones has pride in himself. He's a sinner like everyone else. Bobby |

Thanks Lindsay, I stand behind my poem, and Bones. Pride can be very dangerous. Bones and I try to practice the seven heavenly virtues:--faith, hope, charity, fortitude, justice, temperance, and prudence. We also try never to make assumptions. You know what they say about ass-umptions. Bobby |

The finish was clever. Pride is only for those who can afford it. |

I'll second what Andrew said....and I think all people can suffer from pride or lack thereof from time to time.....the ending was unexpected, I loved it, it packed a powerful punch and was clever. |
