Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep |

Now I lay me down to sleep ... It has been a week of whispered pleas, seeking comfort under dark of night. Pleading for a power to believe, looking to the stars for guiding light. I cried out for those I do not know whose plight has touched me deep inside. Facing each new day as turmoil grows; bursting forth before the old has died. Yearning weaves among sharp, strident cries to sound as echoes in deaf ears. Do promises merely magnify and create an endless din of tears? My eyes close and I wish to believe, in the dark I offer thoughts to You. These nocturnal wishes are achieved; as a children’s prayer reaches out to soothe. I hear it through my Mother’s voice as if she is sitting on my bed. I think of life, of love, of choice. My choice is to live with heart and head. - Alison [This message has been edited by Alison (02-24-2011 10:14 AM).] |

Gives me goosebumps for its intensity, dear Alison. You share the pain of the world in such a heartfelt way, those nightly pleas are heard, I TRUST. Excellent work. Love, Margherita |

Beautifully composed. A real work of art in wordplay style. You bring longing to life with your beautiful style and words. ~ Life is sexually transmitted ~ |

Alison - Sometimes a prayer is more powerful than any words of comfort or wise old saying as you have poetically demonstrated here. I'm already praying and my hands are clasped in a steeple. Much enjoyed. Namyh |

I think all the posters before me have summed this up really well. It is intensely beautiful and opens up to draw the reader into virtual introspective reasons for examination. Parallels of vison make for collective enjoyment. Eric oxymoron....Rap Music |

This is exquisitely and sensitively Alison. You DO live with heart and head - OK, more heart than head and that is good for everyone else, but a little more head would make things better for you. What I mean by the above lack of head is that you will do what is right for somebody else before you think of yourself. However, the head part that you DO live by, is that you analyse things well and honestly and that is good. However, you live, whatever you do, we all love our Alison. Hugs Owl |

This is a real gem, Alison, because you capture so well the pain and longing of so many of us. I too believe our pleas/prayers are heard but perhaps the important thing is that we do plead and pray and not necessarily the outcome because we cannot see the big picture. Well done! Helen |

Margherita, Thank you for feeling what I try to express. This was difficult because my thouhts were jumbled up like popcorn popping in a pot. Thank you, my friend. Alison - Jerry, You are right about the longing. I wish I had a stronger belief system in some ways. So, I just write to sort out my thoughts. Thank you for reading and responding. Alison - Lori, Thank YOU for being part of what I am feeling. It is nice to know that I am not alone. Alison - Baby Girl, Thank you. It's a pleasure to know that you read my poetry. Alison - yann, I feel as if you always understand me - that is such a gift that you give all of us. Thank you. Alison - Namyh, You made me smile - thank you for reaching back out to me. Alison - Eric, Thank you for adding to what has been said. It's always good to read your thoughts. Alison - Diana, When I read what you wrote, I felt such a kinship with you and knew that you know me quite well, my dear friend. Thank you. Alison - Helen, What a wonderful thought. That our pleas are part of a bigger circle to bring solace and find something tangible to hold on to. Thank you. Alison |
