The Soul of a Poet Mayhap it shall come, in its lightest gay, the heart of a bard to induce my say, through tales of old, or of some other days, and a recitation may come this way Perchance an elegy I might 'ere write the loss of dear ones far too numerous of sore lament and grief, both day and night, ‘tho I shan't write o’er the loss of us To honor Theocritus I would pen an idyllic scene to suit now and when that life was blessed pure and fine of fair flair, and I would give it a pastoral air If one be a lyrist of lyre and pen would I gain thus your heart, and e'en then would you choose to sing fine songs with me our throats to join in such a harmony Or in silence of a moment, to muse, and then to be so joyfully enthused by the promise of your words to me bring a song to my heart, I alone might sing Maybe for me the life of a trouvère and to pen thus with Parnassian flair how one might capture one poet’s fair glance, to pen by chance an Elysian dance To seize the heart of one who then would pen, the poet, the bard, a muse, to spend a night, a day, to master a fine write, this my wish, and in my dreams are held tight For the soul of such poet would endure that the heart of such soul would I ensure 04.04.01 slightly revised 01.27.11 Karilea - if I whisper, will you listen? Keeping in mind, I must stand close...and keep my promises... |

There is no doubt about it I am influenced by those who have gone on before. This poem, this very well constructed poem, is written for the heart of poets everywhere. Ah, can a jester control himself and be regulated by metrics within a confined space and write his heart with an eight syllable count? I thoroughly enjoyed this, sunshine. ~ Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die. ~ |

Sissie..."If one be a lyrist of lyre and pen would I gain thus your heart, and e'en then would you choose to sing fine songs with me our throats to join in such a harmony" If I was, I would and this would be my favorite of them all. |

Beautifully written!!! I love this tribute to the dearly departed. I remember Auguste and Madame Chipmunk most. When the family is together, the soul is at peace - Russian Proverb |
