Juggler

It starts with just a ball or two,
And not much else for you to do.
One in the hand, one in the air,
You like the feel and so you dare
To pick up three and even four;
But then start craving something more…
And although you find daggers scary,
Plain balls just seem ordinary.

So you start slowly with just one,
But soon, for you one’s just no fun.
You like the risk of tossing two
Of something that finally suits you.
And when you take that third in hand,
With all else silent, dark, and damned;
Their shines a gleam within your eye
As one by one the daggers fly.

But blades can prove a tricky thing,
A juggler no substitute for wing –
If the timings off by just a hair,
The price of blood seems more than fair.
All fly from you, a work of art,
Never to meet, ever apart
Within the web of air you spin
Daring yet to woo another in.

As you run the gambit of the mind,
The blades a flurry, intertwined;
And you find it quite stimulating,
The silver flashes undulating.
The power, the passion, the control –
Mastery of the human soul…
You ride the near orgasmic high
As another dagger paints the sky.

For the insatiate thrill of game,
You risk it all, and with no shame.
Mere objects now, in nimble palm.
Your face, a remarkable calm.
One final lesson, by decree,
To ever live in infamy…
The etching, hand carved, on your stone,
“Some daggers have minds of their own!”

Wow.  "Welcome to my parlor said the spider to the fly."

This is a very interesting read Michael.
Some parts had a creep factor of 2, some parts, a 10...
But a great read indeed.
Enjoyed.

JL, glad you enjoyed… I obviously need to work on my creep factor a bit   I can be such a slacker at times.

Bel1e, yeah, there’s always something beneath the surface when you start peeling those layers.  Careful, it’s dangerous in there.

We know too many jugglers, Michael... I liked the ending.  Not everyone who appears to be malliable, really ever is.

It is human nature I guess Michael?  I have to say though, living by, "Feel the fear, and do it anyway," makes life a wonderful adventure.

Nicole, too many jugglers, indeed.  Have you ever noticed how easy it is to “control” someone who’s a control freak?  The need itself proves their weakness, and typically they are most blind to it.

Mysteria, the concept of a true player… lol  The numbers weigh against success, but then there is that thrill I suppose.     Thanks for the read.

At least thrill seekers finish with a dramatic flair... and players enjoy the game while it lasts. *G* Those of us who can't juggle one ball without dropping it seem to meet demise by boredom, slumping over between one grain and the next pouring through the hourglass.... zzzzz. LOL I love this rather lighthearted look at lessons some should learn!! *S*
