There is a theory of crying that tears are the body's way of shedding excess elements from the brain, faith will not save us, for all its rabid, haywire abandon, as it plucks and skins, on a binge, to strip the heart of its shiny, blue anatomy, like a lie, that leaves you open, two wrongs make a right [insert bird for sorrow] as slow bees spin the thick, deep jute of some golden hour's passing, the pollen traceless, retreats in my garden, the hyacinths have uprooted, and reach for Lathe, oblivion and swift decay, for ardor is a mere season, and eternity, long hours of desolation lined with garlands of eggshells and rubies, how silly you are, Trinket. On Sundays, the kingfishers enter their kingdom, their blue crowns on fire, and feast upon the flies in my heart, [insert hologram for absence] meet me in the dovecote, my love, I will be waiting and waiting... There is a theory of dreaming , that each one serves to mend something torn, like the cells of new skin, splayed open with a secret's restless soul, as it surrenders its recess and fades with the blue songs that nest in my nights, like a long narrative of birds asleep beneath the pitch of their dark wings, pinions of sorrow, in my dream, something tastes like licorice, and now we must ask the body for a way back, for this is the last, they say the whole world is warming by imperceptible degrees, the end of color, faith won't save us, anymore, here are the jewelthreads and throbbings I need to leave, alleluia, sever and stitch, after hearing the frost warnings, I've snipped all the flowers to make bouquets, and bring them into the house to die, alleluia, the blue cicadas mourn their loss in quick crescendos, and I am learning, at last, the names of our failures; geranium, sunflower, magnolia, azalea, [insert hail for an apocalyspse, of sorts] each January day more furious. |

Ah. You never disappoint. This one was especially good in my opinion. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

Belle, you write of a world I will never know, and though I am sad that you feel that way about faith, your poem is extremely compelling and very beautiful, and, of course, painted with your usual brush of intricate and magnificent, microcosmic and macrocosmic genius. Owl |

quote:Why? You express your theory on dream quite remarkably. I wouldn't ask to come back from such a place. Michael |
