SMILING AT TOMORROW
15 December 2011

Strange how they can turn
on a tickey,
these smooth moods of together
ocean paths
across the road
in a sunkissed
summer.

these smooth moods of together

This renders the thought so intensely. Very captivating, dear Owl. Strange? Maybe not at all, just magical thought-waves in action ...

"magical thought waves" indeed, Mar
Diana sends them out all the time,we all can see them here in her heart poems.

I smiled just reading the title... for it sounded so positive! And then I loved the poem... beautiful work!  *S*

Diana
I forgot to ask. What is a "tickey"?

Giggles, Ford.  It is a very small sterling coin which, at the time that South Africa changed from shillings and pence to rands and cents in 1961, was worth about 2½ cents.  Then it was worth 3 pennies, but not at all like an English thruppeny bit.  It was about half the size of that and silver-coloured.

Thank you, Tracie.

I am smiling at Ford's question and your explanation. I have spent a lot of time searching for the meaning of "tickey", found something funny in the Urban dictionary, but made up my own mind about the meaning in the end, no way to discover that it was a silver coin.

Giggles, Margherita.  I'd love to know what you thought it was.

Oh, my goodness, Margherita!  Giggles!  No wonder you found the poem strange!  More giggles!  Physical or emotional feelings?
