Beyond a long white swathe of sand Between the Sun and Sea Rolling Wave draws near to land Rising wearily Wave’s journey, at an ending The task is almost done His rising head is bending He bows to Cloud and Sun Ageing Wave farewells Sweet Sea His curling hair grows white Her salty tears go flying free To sparkle in Sun’s light Her tears, a mist as Wave goes by Mourn his journey’s end Her sorrow catches Rainbow’s eye Through mist his colours bend Lady Wind gives one last sigh To help Wave on his way He then farewells the distant Sky Sun sets upon the day Ground has prepared, just next to Sea A final resting place Wave reaches out, willingly A smile upon his face |

I have to say, this is a first. A rhyming poem about the tragic end of the mighty . . . wave. Done quite expertly, and I enjoyed reading of the late rites of the wave. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

Haha, thanks JP. It started with just the image of a wave crashing but, I enjoyed the double meaning of Wave. And, I enjoy the effect of personifying nature, so I decided to run with it a bit. |
