a good friend is always there and this we all do know for better or worse, for richer or poorer through rain or sleet or even snow in the best of times; in the worst of times on three hour cruises and sunset walks in sounds of silence and loud bell chimes through knowing gazes and sincere talks a good friend is always there and though, at times, we can’t define the relationship of the fellowship of the friendship we have in mind we can rest assured of this agreed a friend we need is a good friend indeed |

Yes to everything you have written here, steavenr. They are also few and far between so treat them as you would like to be treated. ~ Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die. ~ |

I agree with everything said in the poem and replies, but I would go a little further and say treat them as they would like to be treated. Owl |

There is so much truth in your finely penned poem...your ending is perfect and makes the poem! Great work! Faith There must be a poem in here somewhere. |

Lori, you are right on…thank you for taking enough time to both read & comment…it is appreciated muchly (I know...it is misspelled, but I like it as a word) Jerry, good points…thank you for reading…I honestly appreciate it Owl, keen observation…I’m honored that you stopped by to read and comment. An old man once told me that it was far better to be a friend than to have one. I watched him live that philosophy and have tried to adopt it as my own. It makes for a grand lifestyle. faithm, thank you. I appreciate your recognition of the ending…it sorta finished itself that way and (as I often do) simply went along for the ride |
