She has suffered through a dark time, But out of the dark she has climbed. We all have history to blame, For our peccadilloes and aims. Her confessor, the ancient tome, its voice church-quiet as it should. I listened to its flutter of words, like dried leaves pushed by wind. Even as I sat transfixed to hear, Wonder the reason behind it all. Your mind doth stray, keep it intact, I am for real, not an abstract. This mortal woman sired from Gods, comes unto you without façade. Has it been hours, or maybe days, I've sat with you in front of me. You are a book; a talking book, but so far you haven't given a clue why you are here, or how I found you. What do you want? Who is she to you? Time is ceaseless, and we won't dwell, it's the woman who cast the spell. A great woman's soul is her birthright, a poet who speaks of the night. Book, quit talking in riddles, I'm half insane listening to you. This is my woman, mine, you hear, if you've nothing else to say, begone. I'm weary of hints and runaround, I'll throw you in the fire, be damned. You're too eager, you earthly twerp, calm yourself, let me do my work. Her name is scribed in ancient scrolls, Cleopatra's Muse one of her roles. Something in the book's voice caused me to bide my time and wait. Sensing something more alien than even a talking book saturated the air. I sat still, not a sound did I make, staring at the old book in my hand, waiting for it to get to the point. All humans patience wears too thin, I am amongst the shallow men. It is true, you've a need to know, so listen to me and you'll grow. ©December 6, 2011 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ [This message has been edited by JerryPat2 (12-07-2011 09:29 AM).] |

I very much appreciate your comments, JL. A talking book? Eh, seems to work out though. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

Aha...there is a specific name in here that makes me wonder if we are reading yet another book at the same time. These are wonderful renderings, Jerry. |

It does seem that way at times, Sunshine. I muddled it up, trying to give the fellow heart attacks. Thank you for being here. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |
