.

She tells me
My wife’s car
Is beyond repair
Needing replacing
Sooner than later

There is laughter
In banter and
Something of wonder
Being the fact
That I’m not married

My mother
With a glower
Wants me
To get off the phone
My father says woman
Leave him alone

And since both
Have been gone
For quite a long time
It strikes me as odd
That they are alive

And if back from the dead
Why who has survived
Isn’t much better
For waking
