.

This long weekend
Of Thanksgiving
I will walk with you
On the roads to Sata

We will travel
To the heels and soles
Of our shoes on the avenues
On cobbled stones that once
Knew wagon wheels paths
No longer known for reasons
Historical except by few

At night we’ll sleep on a beach
Or in some forgotten ryokan
Note above among the stars
A stoic silver autumn moon
Pause to hear our passing time
Going into oblivion its silence
A sense of home

And then perhaps
Though nothing especially
Or immediately profound
When no one but you
Would be listening

As the wind recalls
Our years that now are gone
I might say something too

Wonderful thought. Beautiful verse.
