.

I will take your smile
Along with my purchased
Cans of vegetables
Home tonight

Through it you’ll be
Beside me at my desk
As I review my bank accounts
When on the computer monitor
I determine tomorrow’s schedule
Eat dinner as if by a fire

I will later
Look up from the book
I’m reading alone in bed
Gaze out the window
At the falling winter snow

And I will again
See you there
In the grocery store
Haloed by incandescent light
And wonder who you are

Very beautiful.

I fear you will buy more than you need in the attempt to refresh the memory of her smile.

Reminds me of the other evening when
I was with my husband and a very good
looking tall drink of man walked in...
definitely not from this area...

I was a little amazed when my husband
commented on his good looks, too...

but alas, he was looking for someone else,
and was from my home state,
so I doubt if I will ever see him again,
but his eyes, oh his eyes...

will haunt my dreams for nights...

Enjoyed this, John. Thank you!

Makes me wonder how many people we make an impression on and never know that we have done so.
