           Winter of Life

Just beyond a pallid sunset
under cold-indifferent stars
  and penitent moon,
withered scraps of November
leaves and Summer dreams
swirl round bare-bone trees
announcing the fall of Autumn
  into the Winter
of another year … and a wasted life.
Who could have known
how bittersweet would be
this last farewell to Spring.

Though this is a bit depressing in it's truth it is the highest quality poetry as usual, Bruce.

Beautifully expressed, dear Bruce.

You must know that I do not consider any life ever wasted. Do you realize how much potential of joy and comfort and beauty your every word has? And by sharing your poetry you accomplish a wonderful mission that represents a precious gift.

Love,
Margherita
