Life is good It hasn't always been so Dark nights; darker days Have been my companion Far too many years Mistakes were made Mistakes which has taken years to live down If that could even happen Still, I came to a point in my life Where the snakes inside my soul Let me be More or less I talked it out with myself I talked it out with those to whom I needed to speak to We came to an understanding An agreement Let the old issues alone And I tried And succeeded partly Even though I was only halfway out of the dungeon It was enough I thought Lately though, I have been attempting to climb The slippery, scummy walls Toward the open air of freedom I am doing fairly well in that regard Oh, I have had help Climbing out There is something about seeking freedom For yourself You tend to overindulge When you smell the sweet scent of liberation That has a tendency to make you a bit heady And past performances or not Remembering how you wound up in that dungeon In the first place All is forgotten when you reach for the last Handhold out of the pit You begin to think you're pretty Darn smart And begin making mistakes again But if you are really really smart You learn from past mistakes I think I have learnt from them Easy as it goes . . . ©October 30, 2011 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ The sound of a kiss is not so loud as that of a cannon, but its echo lasts a great deal longer.--Oliver Wendell Holmes ~*~ |

Take a breath of sweet freedom and cloak yourself in the wisdom of lessons learned... and enjoy every step in your new life. |

What another nice walk along your thoughts...Sometimes you don't realize how low you are feeling until you start feeling good again. Feeling good looks good on you my friend, Lori |

Hi, suthern, you have a nice way of instructing someone in the best way to go about things. I'm listening. <><> Thank you Lori, I appreciate your comments. ~*~ The sound of a kiss is not so loud as that of a cannon, |

I can feel how overwhelming the feeling is when you climb out of the dungeon, as you say so pertinently. Like the breakthrough from dark clouds into sunshine. To live as we are meant to live that feeling of being born anew is just what is really needed. I love Suthern's and Lori's replies, wise girls. And I love your poem, dear Jerry. It is thought provoking, uplifting and comforting also for anyone who may read it (and we all should). Margherita |

Hi Margherita. Lesson's learned. Lessons applied. Life only gets better. Thank you for your considerable insight. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write the other way. ~*~ |
