this could be the beginning
of something beautiful
but i musn't plan the future

i will extract no promises
from you and i in turn
can promise you nothing

i can be free enough to
be myself with you but i
can only hope you feel the same

and most of all i expect
nothing of you for it is then and
only then i can enjoy
what it is you have to offer

Brilliantly composed, and should be taught in every classroom in America. This "plan" works for many different reasons, but basically it is the non-judgmental attitude I like and respect.

This poem really drew me in with what you didn't say as much as it did with what you did say. The first time I read it, I didn't know how to respond. It felt deeper than simply you be you and I'll be me etc.
