Love is . . . Coming into the true resolve Not merely a cinq à sept . . . No . . . Love is deeper than sexual gratification Even though it has its special place Of loving and being loved Love is . . . When the air seems to shudder and you talk in Baby talk Which sounds perfectly sane To no one but you and your lover When love finds you its like Sunshine breaking through a blackened sky You never knew how beautiful The world was until Love is . . . A senseless piece of work Unless you are involved in it yourself Only when you try to manage love Give it a sense of purpose Is when love come to an idling Stop . . . If you attempt to remind love Of its contractual obligation Its duty as it were It will curl up into a little ball And take a nap Love is . . . Like that flower The one that is synonymous with love The Rose Which has bloomed Its petals ready for plucking And you try to micro-manage it The blooms turn ugly and falls from its stem How do you keep that from happening I will tell you Wish someone had told me Back then Merely allow the light to find it Don't press so hard for it to bloom Lighten up Pay more attention to the bedsprings At night Never, ever allow that to become blasé Still, it isn’t the end all either Love is . . . difficult ©October 26, 2011 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~* If they give you lined paper, write the other way. ~*~ |

Very truly written, my friend ... Especially the Last Line! Well done...of course you didn't address the "blinders" people wear in all the above....there-by not seeing/caring/what love is....only the moment! Ha! j. |

Oh no, jwesley, I didn't touch on the blinders and other crutches in the game of love, but I was trying to hold the poem down to as few lines as I could, and still ran over what I thought it'd. Thanks for you input. <><> Hah! Yeah, Lori, it took me long enough . . . Appreciate your comments . . . <><> You are so right, ms. e, love is personal to each of us. Thank you for being here. ~* If they give you lined paper, write the other way. ~*~ |
