She Makes Him Smile |

Can your emotions change with age? Can an old heart turn a new page? Can a heart who has seen too much, and has even lived in a hutch; can he be recharged by a smile, and think of it on distant isles? An old man who looked at his life, quite alone now, without a wife. He lived his days, one for the next, in front of a monitor; vexed. A simmering bright light has come, among ashes he found a plumb. Though his attachment's far away, She can make him smile every day. ©October 26, 2011 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~* If they give you lined paper, write the other way. ~*~ |

The answers to the questions in the first stanza are yes, of course... and the smile is to be cherished. Michael |

Margherita, I love how energetically you responded to my poem, thank you. ~*~ The sound of a kiss is not so loud as that of a cannon, but its echo lasts a great deal longer.--Oliver Wendell Holmes ~*~ |
