Someone tilted my color wheel
They must have – for I rarely feel
Like matching clothing with seasons
I choose for different reasons

For winter’s gloom, a bright red suit
Helps me to give the blues the boot
Bright turquoise, purple, vivid green
Make constant rain seem less obscene

Our summer sun would wilt a stone
So I leave all dark shades alone
Creams, tans and bronzes, palest gold
Are preferred to anything bold

And while I strive to find cool hues
Like soft lemon and subdued blues
As I’m scorching in southern heat
It's “Wrinkle free” that can't be beat!

But it's in autumn that I lack
Desire for color – it seems black
Beckons the darkness in my mind
That coming winter always finds

I don attire that's funereal
And pray this year to just not feel.

6/4/04 - As you can see, this is another old one coming to light. This year we NEED the rain... it's the drought that's obscene. *S*

I think you should develop your own, "Weather-Related Clothing Line."

"I don attire that's funereal
And pray this year to just not feel."

So here's what I do, basic black accented with my favorite colors that make me feel good... I prayed not to feel one time too, I couldn't hold my breath that long and wound up feeling something anyway...and my hand lotion smells really good and that makes me feel something good (it goes with me everywhere) winters can suck me down if I'm not careful.
Wonderful poem as far as I'm conserned, I related. xo

Really?  I am totally confused.
I'm not sure just what all that means.  Put on what makes you happy...
If I had to be concerned 'bout colors shades
and the like, I'd not dress at all.
Well except for in fall...  Then it's T-shirt, wranglers, and a hoody.
No concerns for colors at all...

I think you and Lori are speaking in some sort of girly code...

But I did enjoy your writing, I did...
Honest...

I enjoyed this Ruth. I think what you put on in each season is reasonable.But black for Fall, when every one else is enjoying the beautiful weather and autumn colors?Enjoy the season without worrying about the coming winter. I am in the late winter of my season and still enjoy. Wear something more festive this month and I hope it will brighten your spirits.  best to you ,jo

Jerry: LOL... Or settle for jammies and jeans, depending on whether I'm staying in or leaving the house. *S*

JL: Not to worry... I sometimes confuse myself. *G* I wasn't intending to talk girlie code... in fact, I wouldn't begin to know how! LOL I should have just left this egg lying in the compost heap where it had been for years. LOL

Lori: I actually do that most of the time! *S* When they wrote our dress code, they forgot to give the salaries to pay for it! LOL Thank you very much! *S*

jo: But we don't GET fall. LOL We usually go from sweltering to soggy, sweat to rain. *S* And fortunately, I'm not nearly as gloomy as I was seven falls ago. *S* Whatever my outfit, I wear a smile much more often! *S* Thank you!!

October's gloom has infected the forums I see.  Not that it matter much to me of course...  for me, every day is a black day.  But it makes me wonder how bleak the long, cold, winter's going to be?

No matter what you wear, you always bring me a smile, Ruth.

Michael: You think we could persuade Ron to put a fireplace and some candles in here to dispel the gloom this winter? LOL I'd say that just the thought makes me smile... but your response put the smile there first. *S* Thank you so much!

jo: You are such a sweetheart... thank you so much for your return visit... and even more for your kindness!!

EA: ROFLMAO... I'm so glad I was just fantasizing about hot chocolate and not drinking any when I read your response... I'd be cleaning my screen for days! LOL You are a delight, oh naughty one... Thank you! *S*

*soft smile*

I have a closet full of black and white.

My skin turns colors though.

I once had some very colorful mu-mu's, though.

And thank you for this--I love to hear people's thoughts on their clothing--I know mine have some interesting stories hidden in the seams. Sure glad they can't talk!

I read this the other day, Ruth and fell in love.  I love colors and rarely ever wear browns or blacks.  I am a Fiesta Ware kind of girl -- I love bright, clashing colors.  Maybe I was a parrot in my last life.

Your colors color me, my friend; no matter what color you wear...

COLOR ME, COLOR YOU

In the book
where my dreams reside,
I've colored you the way
I saw you first,
and in the shades I've seen
between then and now.
All the colors I've ever seen
sparkle and gleam
on this portrait I've made...
that is,
everything but Green.
Green I've saved for me,
whom I've colored beyond the brilliance
of the aura surrounding you.
Envious Green,
for all who share your light.
Green,
fading to blue,
for having to live with only my thoughts,
yet Golden now,
for having been touched,
and grateful,
for having known you
at all.
~~~
So wear whatever color you like.I'll always see you in your brilliance...
serenity: If they could, I'd be closeted with them a long time, listening to every tale! LOL And I know what you mean about skin... red when I've been in the sun... and a whole rainbow of bruise colors when my klutziness gets the best of me. *S* Thank you very much!!
Alison: You and my niece would make great shopping pals. LOL I keep teasing her that I need to wear shades! *G* Thank you so much, sweet lady... and yes... SOMEONE's angel feathers should be blushing... her halo's definitely askew! LOL
Kit: It's always a wonderful surprise and an honor to see a response from you! *S* Thank you very much!!
jwesley: It takes a lot to make me speechless, but you've just succeeded in doing so... and you took my breath as well!! What a beautiful gift of poetry and friendship you've left... this thread is going into my library not to remember my poem... but to cherish your response! Thank you so very much!!
