Driftwood IX

Driftwood felt the moon on her tides
Washing in waves
Of southern draws
To a swamp where her secret hides

It’s not home but it’s her history
That’s rooted here
Only one soul knows
To him she holds no mystery

A babe in the Bayou, still just a child
She remembers
What they did
And after that she just ran wild

She comes back here every so often
To check on
Her demons
And to put nails in their coffins

She comes at the full moon time
When she knows
He’ll be there
To share a bottle of cheap wine

For her he has been her mighty oak
That she could
Cling to
As her long Spanish moss hair he would stroke

She craves his warmth and conversations
To smooth her grain
And sooth her pain
To lose herself in his sensations

Oh I am loving this.  You weave your words beautifully,  but what I admire most is the way you draw on such raw emotion and capture it so vividly.

Wonderful story telling, great to read you again, Mae Mae~

Blues said it for me. Good to see Eusta back doing what she does best.

Great write, especially that last verse.
Enjoyed immensely!
