The Next Stop High upon the pink hilltops, one breeze above the red treetops, stars punctured night sprinkling clouds with purple hue which caused the falling gold moonbeams to filter down in almond streams and flame my eyes with Beauty of this alien planet’s view. There I was transfixed by majesty without conflict, enrapt by a silence throbbing soundless at my ears whose symphony made the colors thunder across my eyes to wake from slumber the Awe that senses flood to wonder what Architect worked here. Then Dawn’s breathless yawning rippled pecan light thru morning on my landcraft now approaching with its rush of silken roar. Overhead, it passed a tree turned and landed close to me. When I stepped inside, the capsule shut closed and sealed its door. Up! Up! It whisked me. Ground fell from my feet, passing clouds that hovered in the upper atmosphere which stood as guard and sentry ‘gainst all outlaw cosmic entry when my capsule docked so gently in my Starship, by my chair. Automatic did the buckles strap my chest and legs and knuckles. Jaws tensed, preparing for the up and coming jolt in a silence made long lasting 'til I felt that rocket blasting. Then, I closed my eyes. I took one breath, just before the bolt. Straight to lightning warp-speed, thrown back in my seat, control and throttle gauges blinked their lights upon my berth. -Unzipped did I my flight suit. -Unlatched my helmet's visor too to read what was my next stop. Ahh! that planet they call Earth. Namyh |

Quite a trip you have taken, my friend, with all the bells and whistles and not the least the roar of rockets. "The Next Stop!" you might want to reconsider, for you see, that planet they call Earth is falling apart and it might not be a safe place to be in the foreseeable future. JerryPat – I believe you make a good point there. This is the planet Earth and we excel at paranoia. You can even say it’s in our arsenal of first-strike. So whether an alien landed in a quiet village in Switzerland or in the middle of Baghdad, it may find that the greatest threat to its existence is an explosive called a human being, reputed to detonate first and ask questions later. This may sound highly critical but we have been known to kill presidents, crucify Gods and sons of Gods, blow each other up and enslave one another. With that rep, what would we do with a visitor who must face such primitve fears. It is hoped we would be civil first. But that’s a big gamble for any out-of-towner to make! I loved the journey, but have to agree with JP, I'm sorry to hear you'd be arriving here. Not graced with hospitality here. Maybe you should just just snap a few photos from a distance... or beam up a specimen or two and move on to venus...  Enjoyeable read, Namyh. Michael |

Michael – I’ve heard of your scary planet Earth from other visitors and I knew I should have made that right hand turn at Saturn. Okay I’ll take a few photos, maybe beam up a specimen or two, have a menthol and a milkshake and then I’m into the wind. You guys scare me more than the sloth worms of Alpha-Centauri or those dreaded maneating mushrooms of Vegetar-7. Whoa! LOL. Thanks for taking the journey Michael and enjoying it with a little fun thrown in. Now crew! Secure from General quarters. Engage Cloaking Device. Ahead Warp 8. Margherita – Stardate 244176. The Earth inhabitants have been found to suffer from ‘forgetting who they are’ and this has caused an advanced state of pagan paranoia where paralytic fears have brought them several times to the brink of extinction. We believe it is contagious and we are hastily retreating from this unknown disintegrative infection. There’s a big HMO on Saturn where we can get the necessary antibiotics. Margherita, please rush and be at coordinates: longitude 145.7 and latitude 198.6 at 12 o’clock midnight and we’ll beam you aboard. Bring an overnite bag. There’s a party afterwards and a yard sale in the morning. Captain Namyh…out! Gimme Warp speed and punch it Scotty! P.S. – Now will somebody get me a strong raspberry latte. Juhuuuuuuuu ... on my way ... I have once seen clearly the rings of Saturn through a telescope ... I am happy to see it from closer distance! Captain Namyh on board! To think of it, maybe we should not abandon Earth, but help these mindless earthlings to REMEMBER! You could write science-fiction, you would do great I am sure! |

suthern – Have no fear S! I have some specimens already. And just because they snarl with saliva dripping and pound the iron bars, it doesn’t mean they don’t calm down after we feed them red meat and tell them bedtime stories. Fine representatives indeed.
