          Time’s  Arrow

A disconsolate Winter wind
wraps the tattered scraps
of fallen leaves and
  faded promises
around the empty corners
of a broken heart
as Autumn falls
in cascading sorrows
and tangled memories
of love and Summer’s chance
  forever lost
to the irrevocable flight
of Time’s swift-indifferent
  arrow.
