in celebration of silence Can we truly emerge from the prison of our words and our ‘knowledge’ that move us ever farther from the pure enlightenment of simply being, (sealing the fate of mystery and the miraculous) and let consciousness dissolve into the infinitely resplendent depths of the unconscious universal self? it is perhaps somewhere in the endless search for meaning … that we become meaningless. Our words and our lives are the mist. --- b. e. adams (1/21/2011) [This message has been edited by secondhanddreampoet (01-22-2011 12:05 AM).] |

This is an awesome poem. I love silence myself. When the family is together, the soul is at peace - Russian Proverb |

Very Albert Camus, except that your poem is much more beautifully expressed. Lovely, Bruce. Owl |

Loved the title and love what you expressed here. Deep and contemplative. Love, Margherita |

It has always been a battle between the "enlightened" as they carry on with their enlightening of us, to the common among us who have a more earthly grasp of what life entails, or as you put it, "simply being." Stuck in the middle of these two divergent groups are the head-in-the-clouds poets. As Owl said, you may have your foot in the door of existentialism and nothing really means anything. Except, of course, to you, because according to Sartre, Camus, etc., that is all it is. ~ Diplomacy is the art of saying 'Nice doggie' until you can find a rock ~ |

nice...I especially liked this last line... "Our words and our lives are the mist." When I read it the first time, I automatically added the word in between 'are' and 'the.' Glad I reread it...your take is far better...and far more thought provoking |
