The Forever Waiting Lilac

All around me is darkness,
without her watching over me.
She departed and left me
with my fear.
I remember when she was near,
splendid and wrapped in gold.
She peeked through the green giants around me,
unfolding before me like a blossoming red rose.
Her brilliant light deafened me to all else.
My every leaf savagely devoured her,
as if she were honeysuckle.
Until she slowly hid behind
the tall green giants.
Leaving me with my fear,
and awaiting her return,
to bathe me in light once again.
