i miss you

little words, round like coins
clamber to the ground;
the dust at my feet.

i miss the seasons
and the grey wanton wishes
as blind and vast as the sea

i remember bending your sky - blue and clear
with my soft words as birds
light with hope and promise
and frailty

i would flesh out verse after verse
after verse, if only in some abstract,
wild hunger
to stave off the blight that keeps us here,
keeps me there

i want the light and the peonies
i want the soft bellies of clouds
i want the lucky fool; still

Sad refrain that I understand quite well. There is a vastness between what was and what is, and what can be. Sometimes, somehow, it can all come together. I hope it does for you.

Someones sky will bend when they come to you...

Oh, this is ever so beautiful, it almost hurts in its emotional intensity.

You've expressed such powerful longing... in such beautiful fashion.

Nicole,

Indeed, it has been too long.  You've lost nothing in the "fleshing out" dept...  nearly fleshing out the soul in this one.  That longing and desire brings much to your poetry, don't ever lose it.

I much enjoyed the read.

Stunningly beautiful and sensitive - and exquisite poetry into the bargain, Nicole.
