Used Cars

Songs like used cars
pepper my cluttered head
salt in my wounds, dreams soak my bed
my scars like braille
spell out your name at night
and you lean over to turn off the moonlight

Guitar and mandolin strings
needle and thread my eyelids
blood on the tracks, trash cans without lids
your frown like cupid's bow
broken over my head tonight
and you reach for a glint of new dawn light

Rain like a murder of crows
scatter in your blue eyes
form a heart with your hands and rise
you're a lady of late spring
plow the pillow for spent dreams
and you can use sunlight to sew up my seams

White piano key smile
black eye takes 1000 winks
wash your tie dyed wonder why in the sink
Cheshire grinning girl of gold
panning you from dream's river tonight
and you bleach my bones with bright sunlight

You bring me a glass of warm weather
and a sprig of fresh June love bug
slug bug, a punch in the arm
yes, songs like used cars
clog up the parking lot of my cluttered head
pour stars into my wounds, I'll soak you up, beautiful red
my scars like email messages
spell out your name tonight
and you lean over me to turn off that lonesome moonlight

Very, very well written tale of the beleaguered in love, but no love to share. I enjoyed your creative wordplay, it was most effective. I like your style, soul drifter.

Great line.

Enjoyed the read... just dark enough.

You have such a greaat way with your words, I am loving your ending and what you did with the moonlight.

Yanno, your poetry is refreshing because it's always something different.

Good on ya, sou drifter~
