silent sentries neighborhood trees hold their breath in silhouette sip stolen violet from a sun still in hiding ~ guard heaven's slip across the world half lit, still devining my hunger for September sapphire and the aroma of yellow 49ers where tiny arachnid skitters the quiet, casts his net among a sea of dewdrops for one last taste of summer |

Thank you Magherita. Such a warm smile you have! I have missed being here, too, feeling the ephiphanies of poetry, and my friends. I'll try not to be such a stranger, at least leave an ink blot from time to time. [This message has been edited by Klassy Lassy (09-16-2011 01:09 AM).] |

Now how many people would use the word "arachnid" for spider... you made Charlotte beautiful again! |

"for one last taste of summer" I think your poem is a snap shot of the end of summer, great poetic pictorial. (But I am so glad summer is out-of-here)... JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |

Sunshine, I think Charlotte would have approved. She was privileged to have a name! LOL... I appreciate the thought! |

JL, We had a very short summer here, but I love autumn before the torrential rains beging, However, I would happily send some Oregon rain to those areas where wildfires are burning if they were to come early. We've had them around the state, too. |

We seem to be inundated with them by October... creepy crawley things all over the eves of my house. And I am afraid of them. They have their purpose, but I wish they would conduct it at a distance. Thank you for stopping to read. ~KL |

Karen, this is oh, so beautiful. I especially loved the part about the dear little spider - not just because of Charlotte. You are only afraid of spiders because you don't know them the way Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's fox knew The Little Prince. Please give them my address (but ask them to come by ship or plane - as it is too far to swim). They can live in the haven of my indigenous forest garden. I think I should repost my spider poem soon. Diana, please do. There is an hallucination associated with spiders that I had once...and it came from a story of a black widow bite. The vision was aggravated by a medicine I took. One night in half-sleep I saw spiders falling off the ceiling by the hundreds, and I couldn't get away. Shaken, I rose and flushed the medication... but a few years ago, it seemed to rain spiders off the front porch of my house for real one night in October. Luckily, I wasn't on the porch, and my son-in-law cleared them away, but that memory is vivid. Do post your poem. Your poems are always such a pleasure to read! |

Richy, Yellow Forty-niners are very heady gold roses! I should have spelled the name ~~~~~~~~~ Blues, I love the crisp clear days of fall, but they are all too soon given over to a shroud of gray for winter. So, I cherish the colors to get me through it. ~~~~~~~~~~ Thank you, ms. e. |

Karen, you were away at the time I re-posted my Spider poem for you and I wanted to email you to tell you that I had done so, but you don't have your email address available so I couldn't - so I am just mentioning it now. It is probably a few pages back now. Smiles. Owl |

Klassy Lassy - In addition to all the other compliments, let me say I was captivated by the visual and poetic craft of your words in this piece. They do make an impact on the reader, along with the spiders of course. Very nice work KlassyL. Namyh |
