The End, My Friend?

I wonder what it is like
To lay on the frozen ground
Or. In some stairway between floors
Hoping, I might be found.

What’s it like to feel a bullet
Tearing, through flesh and bone
Or, parts of bodies, being found
From what person, never known.

“War and Peace”, a famous book
But, those words, just mean the same
While, during both, we don’t quit
How, we love to kill and maim.

Planes flown into the “Towers”
Or bomb, Iraq/Afghanistan
Children killed and people starving
Because, of the “good” of Man??

The only scourge upon this Earth
That, never, ever, will be cured
Those ten commandments will be told
But, somehow, they’re never heard.

We make excuses for ourselves
Try to believe, we’re doing right
As we hate our fellowman
And buy more arms for, some fight.

We hold the “good book” in one hand
While in the other, there’s a gun
If, not really in our own hand
We cock the trigger, with our thumb.

With our silence and indifference
We all will commit a murder
We can’t take the Fifth Amendment
Because, it’s our fault, for sure!

The homeless, living on the street
Or all those starving, on this Earth
Are, the fault, of each one of us
No matter what, we think, our worth.

One thing, to stop this insanity
Is right here, in the human mind
As we make others, go extinct
We’ll be the end, to humankind!!!

Dear Del-Abe, your words express truth! How far behind we are in evolution!

It's all about learning to love and respect each other and the Earth.

To witness what men have done and still do to each other, all the misery, the injustice, the rivalry that cause inhuman acts, sometimes it is really too much to bear ...

It begins with us, just here within our hearts ... as Gandhi said WE MUST LOVE THE WORLD INTO CHANGE. And it is not a light challenge! When we can't even love really our family members, our neighbour, how will we ever be able to love humanity? IT BEGINS WITH US.

Thank you for this mighty thought provoking poetic piece.

The law of love is simple, the ways to make it our own is bumpy. We must learn to see with the heart. Only in emergencies we awake to love. We should transform every day in an emergency day, emergency of love.

Thank you!

Love,
Margherita

Sobering thought.

Nice write Abe.
