Yesterday I saw a thin rainbow split in two no rain within miles Wished to take it home yet it was racing the sun as clouds followed me Clouds like ocean waves swept thru like a thunderstorm as i head back home |

I enjoyed pondering this and the reasons behind a broken rainbow. |

It never ceases to amaze me how much an impression a fleeting moment can leave on us. I really enjoyed this. When I was a kid I'd always look for that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but to no avail. Four or five years ago, a friend and I visited a meadow with a huge chuck of mountain sticking out from no where. Directly in front of the rocky structure grazed a deer. It saw us, but unimpressed by our presence it continued grazing while I was able to.take out a sketch pad and sketch it. Meanwhile, it began to rain momentarily. As the rain became just a drizzle and the sun had begun to shine, the deer was highlit by the pastels of a rainbow over the green meadow. It was right at the end of the rainbow which was about 150 ahead of us. It was as if we could reach out and touch that pot of gold, which in this case, was the peaceful deer. So glad your poem triggered this memory. |

As I read this, in my mind, I was driving on an open highway, windows down. Off in the distance were the clouds and that partial rainbow. Great write. JL |

Ebonygirl- Thanks, glad you like the poem, rainbows and clouds. Blue Serenade- Glad you enjoyed and pondered on my poem. I as well wondered about the broken rainbow. Miscellanea- Truly happy that my poem triggered a fond memory of yours. I'm still looking for that pot of gold, even if it's not gold at all. JL- Happy that you saw such a beautiful thing within the clouded sky. |
