Mesmerizing Ensemble of South Africa

A yard garden filled with fruit trees
for birds, the foxes, and Bubo Africanus to feed...
A delightful opus sounds the day
while twilight brings the softness
of the grass owl and the red jackal
from as far away as Zambia to play...

An evening rain taps out the percussion
mingled with the oceans breeze
gently swaying branches of a Baobab tree

Then,
the medley of the night –
clicking and chirping and dancing creatures
reaching for the beams of moonlight.

In the distance
sounds of the sea pushing ashore,
pulsing as a heart beat.
As metrically calming as can be...
     Metrically calming...
         Metrically calming...
             Metri...cal...
                    calm.......

This is beautiful, JL, spotted eagle-owl and grass owl and my beloved country and all.  The first stanza is reminiscent of my indigenous forest garden.

You certainly mesmerised me, especially in those last lines.

Have you ever been to South Africa?

It is a  play off your write “Convention”
And from your response to my reply to that,
sorry couldn’t help myself.
It was a mental picture that just had to get out.
I’ve never been there but with a little research.
I guess you could say I made a mental visit.
Thanks for the reply!

JL what a beautiful explosion of life's colors!

I did make the connection with Owl's Forest Garden. She has illustrated to us that magical place so intensely that we can in fact SEE and FEEL it.

You have done a fantastic job and the final mantra is haunting.

Love,
Margherita

Thank you, JL.  I am glad you enjoyed Convention and I most certainly enjoyed your lovely poem about my country (and my garden!) that I adore so much.  Smiles.

JL, I didn't merely "allow" you the visit - I unknowingly invited you to visit my indigenous forest garden - and now that I know you enjoyed the visit, I knowingly invite you to visit it whenever you like.  If you would like on your next visit, I'll tell you about the trees in it and the creatures that visit it and if you would like, we can have coffee on the verandah overlooking most of the forest.  Smiles.

Well, thank you so much for the invite!
I would love to.

Please do tell me about all the creatures, and trees in your garden, and I think standing out on your verandah sipping a cup of coffee would be a real delight!

Oh, little sugar no cream.

Thank you SA...

Yes JL, I was reminded of Ms. Owl's poem while reading.
Your poem bridged her poem very well.
Enjoyed,
Ms. E
