SOURCES
22 August 2011

Open smiling eyes
to philosophical horizons
that embrace the world.

Sing songs lower than Ivan Rebroff
and higher than a skylark flies
and caress the music
with primal understanding.

Gently stroke,
the exoskeleton
of a shongololo
for but a nanosecond,
so as not to frighten his little heart,
as all his little legs
perambulate his long beauty forward.

Inhale the sweet, hypnotic scent
of acacias’ little sungold puffballs,
looking ever upward,
adoring the shapes of azure infinity
between the long-thorned branches.

Savour the mountain-fresh waters
of a chattering stream
and meditate the moment into poetry.

Unleash your heart open-wide
and take off towards the sun
with abundant joy
and paint the skies wild
with colours
of which rainbows have not yet dreamed.

Such magical imagery and tunes, dear Owl!

It might be the first time that a shongololo is treated with such deep tenderness in the poetic world!

Love,
Margherita

"and paint the skies wild
with colours
of which rainbows have not yet dreamed"

Its a joy reading through this write, fine writing.

Holy-smokin' catfish!
This is really an excellent write.
Love these three verses, all of it is good but these reached out and grabbed me.

Thanks, Ida for your spontaneous appreciation.  Smiles.  Mine too!

Thanks, Margherita, for your kind words.  Actually, not the first – at least the second time –

Smiles.

Thank you, Prasad.  You picked out exactly my favourite part too.

Giggles at the “holy smoking catfish!”, JL.  Thank you!

The whole poem is beautiful... but I love this description of what you do so well... I'm so glad you do it!

Ruth, you say the most wonderful things - things that warm the cockles of my heart.  Thank you.

Thank you, eg.
