. Off in the distance An old dock Just below the horizon Two couples Are swimming in the water Beyond a few ripples The lake is calm There are small white Butterflies for passing clouds A single boat creates a wake Beneath an otherwise open sky The sandy dunes are a tawny brown Mixed with grasses that wave around The gray foundations of other lives Men and women I never knew And now more and more That I did before Nothing’s forever That much I know For all your colored hair . |
