Winter Chanticleers When most of life and time seem forever lost and there is no bond left to claim with anyone… when we are as shades in a dream within a dream of endless Winter, look to the sounds of distant evening bells that drift across boundless mountain lakes, rivers, and forests in the starry evening moonlight and along the sparkling snow-soft corridors of the North wind’s infinite wizardry, for they are ever the Chanticleers of morning hope and the surety of renewal and new promise in the ever-turning seasons. --- b. e. adams (1/16/2011) |

This is beautiful though partly melancholic, Bruce, but it is heart-warming to see the hope and the motivation there too. Owl |

Loved your winter scene...like looking out my window (well, my view isn't that pretty, but we're in the middle of a cold spell). Thanks for reminding us about both the beauty of winter and the fact that it won't last forever. |

My Chanticleer, a deep red, robust rooster, never knew winter in a hard keep...no, he first knew life in Los Angeles, but because of ordinances, had to move to our little "farm" in upper California [about 1/3 the way to San Francisco] and found home and harbor in a little nowhere called Nipomo... but he brought with him City tactics back in the late '50's...he was a gang member, all right, and attacked everyone! But it was when he finally attacked Mom who was out bringing in the wash [and snagged her new hosiery while upon her slim legs] that he finally found his comeuppance...on our dining room table, that very Sunday. And he dressed out at 12 pounds! Think about it! Your poem...is wonderful! Thank you for the travel down memory road! |
