She was a song played on a cracked harmonica by a blind beggar in the bus station, a broken string on a Spanish guitar chording Malaguena an hour before dawn. She was accustomed to apologize and knew it was her own fault she bruised so easily. She was twelve and will never be thirteen. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |
