So all The wars are over And you’re still here Those and that As sought to take your life Or at the very least diminish it Have finally disappeared And now you stand Beneath another sky A whole new day Full of unexpected possibility Wondering what to do The air is cool And the sun is out Breathing’s good Let’s just start with that And let it go from there . |

Recovering from war or warlike persecutions both given and taken, such as not being able to trust most others, being ganged up on and physically harmed, loved ones harmed, etc., is tough, but it is possible under good enough circumstances. As long as the advice to breathe is for the wonder of it, and not a transparent attempt to quell the psychologist's own unworthy fears. Another well-written poem you have offered, thanks. |
